The Quad Core PC Simplified

I’ll say right up front this is a simple quad core pc explanation so if you already know what the heck it’s all about, skip this article. This is for mortals and those that just “want the facts”.

Quad Core Basics

The programmers who are payed to develop faster computers are developing applications to take advantage of 4 cores and buying one now makes sense for the future. This will help keep your computer up to date and adaptable to make it much quicker in the near future.

Price

Prices have fallen as some of the larger companies compete against each other in what almost qualifies as a price war. Gateway offers a very fast quad core pc for less than $600 and you can go up from there depending upon your needs.

Recommendations

You should have a quad core of at least 2.66 Ghz per core. Remember we want to allow you to beef your computer up in the next year or so and I would suggest having 2 extra RAM slots for future additions.

Since prices are so far down I’d also suggest a 500 GB hard drive. Don’t buy an expensive video card either unless your big time into games. These cards can be expensive and always use a lot of power. You can always upgrade later and they’ll be cheaper in the future.

I don’t own the Gateway that I referred to earlier but I’m seriously looking at buying one for my wife. I’ve been reading the reviews and they are mostly raves. An example of the reviews is here: “Super tiny, fits basically anywhere.

"The design was very well thought out, I love it. It has a quad core processor that is fast and chock full of memory that I can’t believe for the $500 price point. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a low cost PC that outperforms high cost competitors. It’s got everything you could want at a price you can afford." The bottom line is I advise going to the quad core pc now and you’ll be glad you did tomorrow.
